[editor's note, by random dude] Huh? I though McDonalds wanted to promote some sort of wholesome image. What's next, Sweat Shop Sally figurines with your Happy Meal?

Update [2004-11-4 0:17:19 by random dude]: In the interests of being a good journalist and all that, I should point out that shockwave provides gaming subscriptions. To my knowledge, they aren't involved in gambling. Still, it makes a good headline...

October 28, 2004 -- Shockwave.com and McDonald’s announced today that they are teaming up to give away up to 2 million 30-day subscriptions to the Shockwave.com GameBlast subscription service(www.gameblast.com). The subscriptions will be offered up as prizes in the Monopoly® Best Chance Game 2.0 at McDonald's®, from November 2 through 22. Diners will have the chance to win by visiting participating McDonald’s across the United States, and collecting MONOPOLY game pieces that will have a code for online redemption at www.playatmcd.com.

By providing consumers with unprecedented value, convenience, and selection, GameBlast has made online and downloadable games fun and accessible for everyone – not just the kids and teens traditionally labeled “gamers.” For less than $10 per month, subscribers enjoy unlimited access to well over 100 premium games with a retail value of over $1,500. GameBlast also eliminates the annoying advertisements, technical problems, and time-limited trials that plague other online game players.

Winners of the Monopoly® Best Chance Game 2.0 at McDonald's® will experience the benefits of a GameBlast subscription, including:

· lots of cool stuff
· A pony

“We are excited to introduce GameBlast to McDonald’s customers nationwide,” said Scott Roesch, VP Marketing, Shockwave.com. “They’re going to discover what our fans already know – GameBlast is THE PLACE for families who love to play games on the computer.”

“Subscriptions to GameBlast are a fantastic prize in our game,” said Bill Lamar, McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing Officer “It’s a service that has something very appealing to offer almost anyone who walks into one of our restaurants.”

McDonald's is a huge multinational corporation and a primary cause of the deforestation of the rain forest. I Personally don't think that their hamburgers taste good.

Couputers and Roulette: Can We Hack Roulette Wheels?

I've just finished reading way too many articles about fool proof ways to win at casinos. I've had enough with roulette computers that beat roulette wheels. I feel a need to get in my two cents in. My two cents are pessimistic. That being said, I do know how you can tilt the odds in your favour. It's just not that glamorous. It's like cutting out coupons in the newspaper before you buy your groceries.

Online casinos like new customers. It's a bit of an obvious statement, but a good place to start nonetheless. Casino's are wrestling with the marketing problem. Faced with many similar casinos, how can one create a unique value proposition for customers. How can they make their casino the best. There are several possible means. Casinos can compete on: - pay out ratio (one casino pays out 98% of the money it takes in)
- quality of the software
- cash bonus when you sign up.

The main problem with the first marketing effort is that it reinforces the notion that you're taking money from the players. This might not be the fact that you want to emphasize in your online casino marketing efforts.
The problem with the second is that the best, and highest quality software and resulting Internet gaming experience can't be experienced until after the would be customer downloads the software. This strategy doesn't help get new customers. The first two strategies don't help you get new customers, they just helps keep the ones you already have. The last strategy is the online equivalent to the $5 lobster dinner at Vegas. It's just a loss leader - plain and simple.

Combined with search engine optimization and affiliate programs, the third strategy seems to be the strategy of choice. The proposal works like this. Sign up, deposit $50 and we'll give you $50. The only catch is that you need to gamble a bit before you take the money out.

Many Internet casinos offer 10%, 20%, 25% bonuses. It might be better to look for individual free money for every $25 you deposit. If the casino will give you a free $50 for every $50 you put in, this works out to a 100% bonus. One place offered $100 for a $25 deposit. This is a whopping 400% bonus! Not bad. So is there a catch? Not really, as long as you don't end up losing more than the bonus. A little self discipline.

So, how do you hustle the casino?

A Blackjack player that knows some basic strategy has a disadvantage of around .5%. This means that for every $100 that you wager, you should get $99.50 back. I think that this is actually pretty good. For one hours worth of entertainment, you should be down at most a buck or two. If you're lucky, you might win a bit.

Internet casinos usually want you to make $50 worth of bets before you take the money out. Normally, you'll end up with $40 to $60 to take out (assuming you deposited $25 and the casino kicked in $25 as well). It's cool is you suck at Black don't sweat it just play Baccarat or Craps. In Baccarat, bet player or banker. In Craps, bet pass or don't pass. These strategies give you about a 1% disadvantage. Make all your bets the table minimum. Keeping you bets at the minimum diversifies the risk over more hands and increases the chance that you will end up with between $45 and $55 worth of cash. Now just have fun and make $50 worth of bets. In general, it's a good rule of thumb to deposit more than the minimum amount. This is just to avoid suspicion. After you're done, take most of your money out. If you leave a bit in, the casino might give you the same sort of deal and you can make more money this way.

Ken Chan Poker Scam Exposed

Former security specialist turned online poker cheater has releases a how-to on cheating at online poker. This no holds barred cheating manual even teaches people how to see there opponents cards. Of course ken chan's poker system requires you to have root on the server first... It's too bad it doesn't work.

These types of claims are the sort that you really have to sit up and take notice of, and then comment on. I checkout of the site and for the most part, the claims are great, but it's mostly hype. He' makes two points which are true.

1. It's possible to make money using a poker bot. If you want one, the vex bot is probably the best. Maybe Google for it and try it out?

2. It's possible to see other poeple's hands. The way you do this is have a who bunch of friends playing in one table. You all know what each others hands are because you're all on MSN messenger and communicating together. Basically, you team up and almost everyone folds except the person with the highest hand. You might have to make some modifications in order to not be suspicious...

As an aside, this is a good reason to play video poker. You don't have to worry that the humans in your poker room are cheating. You also don't have to worry about losing money to poker bots.

If you use the cheating method above (which incidently, is not something from ken chan poker essays), the group of you will end up winning... The rest of the poker claims by ken chan seem to be unsubstantiated.

No one saw it coming but with the recent explosion in online poker it was only a matter of time. You see the online poker community has been fiercely debating for quite some time now whether or not cheating is occurring online. Methods discussed run the gamut from online poker bots to collusion to card scanners.

Well the lid has just been blown wide open. A self confessed online poker cheater has just revealed all of his methods in a downloadable e-book. Ken Chan has finally done what no else has – he actually teaches people simple ways in which they can cheat online and make big money. He outlines several strategies that he has been using for quite some time and explains them in easy to follow step by step instructions.

Ken chan has also claimed to have some sort of x-ray poker tool. He claims that this would really help people win. I don't doubt that seeing your opponents poker hands will help you win. I just doubt that his software works.

ken chan is so confident in his poker methods that he guarantees that anyone who uses them will make at least $25,000 a month or they get to keep the material for nothing. But good luck getting your money back... The Ken Chan poker cheating guide can be found at www.cheat-at-poker.com but Ken Chan will probably not be around for a long time so those interested would be best to move fast.

This site looks to be a scam. In not sure. However, we did recently get an submitted story from professor77 that this site was a scam and a rip off. The story is here: Ken Chan poker scam. Ken Chan, I encourage you to speak up up if you feel that you are being wrongfully acused.

As a follow up, it looks more and more like ken chan is running a poker scam. That being said, there are some good points here on how to "hack" online poker rooms.

You can't hack google, but you can game their pagerank algorithm. The same holds true for online poker rooms, they can't be hacked, but you can game them - and win. You end up cheating, and you win real money.
